Ellettsville Wildlife Removal Through the Seasons
Ellettsville is Bloomington’s neighbor on the west side of Monroe County, in Richland Township. Homes that back up to woods, fields or creeks sit right next to wildlife habitat, and newer construction isn’t automatically wildlife-proof. Critter Outlaws handles wildlife removal for Ellettsville and nearby Stinesville.
Free estimates and inspections: (812) 821-4462. Our phones are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Emergency wildlife calls are accepted after hours and will receive attention.
What changes through the year
Wildlife activity shifts with the seasons. These are general patterns, and any animal can show up at any time of year.
Spring. Many animals, including raccoons and squirrels, have their young in spring and look for sheltered spots such as attics. Noise in the attic at this time of year may mean a mother with young, which need careful handling. See raccoon removal and squirrel removal.
Summer. Groundhogs dig under sheds and slabs, snakes turn up around foundations and garages, and bats may be raising young in attics, which affects when exclusion can be done. See groundhog removal, snake removal and bat removal.
Fall and winter. As it gets colder, mice and rats look for warmth indoors, and animals that got in during fall may settle in for winter. A good time to check for gaps. See mouse removal, rat removal and possum removal.
Late winter. Skunks may look for den sites under decks, porches and sheds. A smell near the house is worth checking. See skunk removal.
Entry points on newer homes
A newer house can still have openings wildlife will use:
- Gaps where the roof meets a dormer or second story (roof returns)
- Unscreened gable and ridge vents
- Garage door corners and weep holes
- Utility line and dryer vent openings
Part of every job is finding and sealing these gaps so the problem doesn’t come back next season.
How Critter Outlaws handles it
The first visit is a free inspection: what animal, how it’s getting in, and what damage is done, followed by a free estimate. Then the animals are removed humanely according to Indiana law, entry points are sealed, and droppings, nesting material or wildlife-damaged attic insulation are cleaned up, sanitized, removed or replaced as needed.
Critter Outlaws is a small, owner-operated wildlife removal business. It isn’t animal control and deals with wildlife only. We respond as quickly as possible.
