Critter Outlaws

Wildlife Removal in Spencer, Indiana

Spencer sits on the West Fork of the White River, with McCormick’s Creek State Park just east of town. Homes here range from in-town houses to rural lots with sheds and outbuildings, and wildlife can find its way into any of them. Critter Outlaws is a small, owner-operated wildlife removal business, and Spencer, along with nearby Gosport and Worthington, is part of its service area.

Hearing scratching overhead, finding a chewed hole in a soffit, or noticing a fresh burrow by the shed? Call (812) 821-4462. Our phones are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Emergency wildlife calls are accepted after hours and will receive attention. Routine appointments are scheduled during business hours unless the owner arranges otherwise.

Wildlife problems Spencer homeowners deal with

Raccoons in attics and chimneys. Raccoons can get in through loose roof vents, uncapped chimneys, or gaps where an addition meets the original roofline. A raccoon with young in the attic needs careful handling. See raccoon removal.

Bats in the attic or walls. Bats are removed by exclusion: one-way devices let them leave, and the entry points are sealed after they’re gone. Exclusion is timed so young bats that can’t fly yet aren’t sealed inside. More on bat removal.

Groundhogs under porches, sheds and outbuildings. Burrows under slabs and steps can undermine them over time. See groundhog removal.

Snakes in basements and crawlspaces. Most Indiana snakes are harmless, but nobody wants one in the laundry room. See snake removal.

Opossums under porches and decks. They shelter under porches, decks and sheds, and will use an open attic vent. See opossum removal.

Squirrels, opossums, skunks and mice can be handled too. See the full list on the animals we remove page.

How a visit works

  1. Call or send a request. Describe what you’re seeing or hearing. We respond as quickly as possible.
  2. Free inspection and estimate. Critter Outlaws checks the property from the foundation up for entry points, droppings, nesting material and damage.
  3. Humane removal. Trapping or one-way exclusion, depending on the animal, handled according to Indiana law.
  4. Seal-up. Entry points are sealed so new animals can’t move in.
  5. Cleanup if needed. Droppings and nesting material are removed and the area sanitized; wildlife-damaged attic insulation can be removed and replaced.

Critter Outlaws is a private business, not county animal control, and works with wildlife only.
