Bedford Wildlife Removal & Entry-Point Sealing
Bedford calls itself the Limestone Capital of the World. Lawrence County sits on limestone karst, with caves such as Bluespring Caverns near Bedford, and many local buildings use limestone in their foundations and walls. For wildlife removal, what matters most is how animals get in, and stone and block construction has its own weak spots.
Bedford is the southern limit of the Critter Outlaws service area. Critter Outlaws provides humane wildlife removal, exclusion and cleanup for homes and businesses in Bedford.
Ready to have the gaps found and sealed? Call (812) 821-4462. Someone picks up 24/7; regular business hours are Mon–Fri, 8–5.
Entry points on stone and block buildings
Older limestone and block foundations can develop gaps over time where mortar wears, pipes enter, or additions meet the original wall. Common trouble spots include:
- Mortar gaps and openings around foundation vents
- Gaps where utility lines and pipes pass through walls
- Openings under porches and slabs
- Roof edges, soffits and gable vents above
Animals that use these openings include:
- Snakes in basements, crawlspaces and garages. See snake removal.
- Groundhogs digging under slabs, porches and outbuildings. See groundhog removal.
- Chipmunks burrowing along walkways and retaining walls. See chipmunk removal.
- Mice and rats squeezing through small gaps. See mouse removal and rat removal.
Up top, raccoons and squirrels use damaged soffits, vents and chimneys. Opossums shelter under porches, decks and sheds. See the full animals we remove list.
Bats and exclusion
Bats can roost in attics, wall voids and behind siding. Several bat species in Indiana, including the Indiana bat, are listed as endangered, so bats are handled by exclusion rather than trapping:
- Find the gaps the bats are using, which can be very small.
- Install one-way devices so bats can leave but can’t get back in.
- Seal the gaps once the bats are out.
- Clean up guano and remove or replace contaminated attic insulation if needed.
Exclusion is timed so young bats that can’t fly yet aren’t trapped inside. Read more on bat removal.
How a Bedford job goes
It starts with a call or a request form, and we respond as quickly as possible. Next comes a free inspection and estimate. Animals are removed humanely according to Indiana law, entry points are sealed, and any wildlife mess is cleaned up and sanitized. Work stays within wildlife exclusion, seal-up and wildlife cleanup.
Critter Outlaws is a small, owner-operated wildlife removal business, not animal control.
